The Querent and the True Question
The querent receives the first house and is signified by Fortuna Major. The same figure passes into the tenth and eleventh houses.
The tenth house signifies his work and career, while the eleventh signifies the income he receives from employment, including his salary and bonuses. The passage of his figure into both houses reveals that his real concern is not the company’s future as an abstract corporate matter. What truly troubles him is his own place within it—whether he will keep his job, preserve his career, and continue receiving the same compensation.
When questioned further, the querent confirmed that this was indeed what concerned him. He also explained that rumors were circulating within the company that management was preparing layoffs.
The querent’s coworkers are signified by the seventh house. Amissio there gives immediate support to the rumors of impending layoffs. The chart therefore reflects both the querent’s true concern and the actual situation within the company, confirming its radicality.
Analysis
The Querent’s Position
Fortuna Major represents the rising or midday A Sun in e Leo. It is the figure of Greater Fortune—benefic, firm, stable, and strong in nature. Its correspondence with fixed e Leo likewise indicates stability and the preservation of the existing condition.
Fortuna Major appears in the first, tenth, and eleventh houses. The querent’s figure therefore occupies the houses of his work, career, and employment income. The tenth and eleventh houses are unafflicted, so nothing threatens his career, job title, salary, or bonuses.
Fortuna Major in the first house, however, is besieged from both sides by two Martial figures: Puer in the second house and Rubeus in the twelfth. This siege indicates pressure upon the querent himself and some reduction in his personal role or place within the company’s structure.
The coming changes will therefore affect his position within the organization, but not his career, job title, salary, or bonuses.
The Coworkers and Their Personal Money
The querent’s coworkers are signified by Amissio in the seventh house.
Amissio—C Venus in b Taurus—is the figure of loss, deprivation, and decrease. Its appearance in the house of the coworkers points directly toward layoffs and the loss of their existing positions.
Amissio forms head company with Cauda Draconis in the eighth house. For the coworkers, the eighth is their turned second house and signifies their personal money, possessions, and material resources.
Cauda Draconis in this house indicates the depletion or disappearance of their personal funds. It does not signify their salaries as such, which belong to their turned eleventh house. It shows the money already belonging to them—the contents of their own pockets, accounts, and savings.
The chart suggests that many of these employees may have been living paycheck to paycheck, as is so often the case, without substantial reserves. The loss of employment would therefore leave them with very little personal money almost immediately.
The Reception between the two figures produces:

Subradiation of the Coworkers’ Turned Houses

There are three appearances of Fortuna Major in the chart:

Combustion and subradiation afflicts not the figures occupying these houses, but the houses themselves and their ability to produce what they signify. It therefore weakens the seventh house’s ability to preserve the coworkers’ existing positions, the turned tenth house’s ability to sustain their work and careers, and the turned eleventh house’s ability to preserve their salaries and bonuses.
This testimony is no less important than Amissio in the seventh house. Amissio shows loss, while the subradiation of the turned houses identifies precisely what will be damaged—the coworkers’ employment, careers, salaries, and bonuses.
Fortune cannot be on everyone’s side at once. In this chart, it favors the querent while turning against his coworkers. What is preserved for him is placed in danger for them.
The Witnesses and the Judge
The Right Witness is Puer, and the Left Witness is Caput Draconis. Together they produce the Judge:
- Puer + Caput Draconis = Amissio
This combination signifies great effort that ultimately proves fruitless and ends in loss.
The Judge repeats the figure occupying the coworkers’ seventh house, confirming that their losses form the principal outcome of the chart. Their attempts to preserve the existing situation will fail to produce the desired result.
Judgment
Despite the company’s difficulties and the approaching layoffs, the querent will not be dismissed. His career, job title, salary, and bonuses will remain intact.
The three appearances of Fortuna Major show that fortune stands on his side. The Martial siege of Fortuna Major in the first house, however, indicates a reduction in his personal role, a change in his place within the organizational structure, or a transfer elsewhere within the company.
The coworkers face a much harsher outcome. Amissio occupies their seventh house, while the house itself is afflicted by subradiation. Its Head Company with Cauda Draconis in their house of personal money and their Reception into Rubeus show both dismissal and severe material consequences.
No less important is the subradiation of the coworkers’ turned houses of work and compensation. Their employment, careers, salaries, and bonuses are all placed under threat. The Judge—again Amissio—confirms the final outcome of loss.
Outcome
This is exactly what happened.
The company reduced its overall staffing structure and transferred the querent elsewhere within the organization. His job title, salary, and bonuses remained unchanged.
Some of his coworkers were dismissed outright. Others had their salaries reduced or their former bonuses cut.

Lesson
It is always necessary to understand not only the literal wording of a question, but also its true substance and the querent’s real motives.
People do not always formulate their questions in a way that accurately expresses what truly concerns them. A person may ask a broad and impersonal question while actually fearing for his own future.
Both horary and geomantic charts reflect first and foremost whatever holds the greatest importance for the querent and resonates most strongly with his genuine thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
Sometimes a matter troubles a person so deeply that he is afraid to call it by its true name and ask about it directly. The geomancer’s task is not to follow the querent’s wording mechanically, but to read the chart with care, recognize the true source of his concern, and judge what genuinely matters to him.
