Preface
The querent is a supporter of FC Barcelona, who were set to face Alavés in a LaLiga match on November 29, 2025. He wanted to know the outcome of the match and cast a geomantic chart asking which team would win.
Barcelona won the match 3–1, although the final score does not fully convey how the game unfolded. Alavés took the lead in the opening minute, but Barcelona quickly equalized and went ahead 2–1 by the 26th minute. The visitors remained within one goal of drawing level until stoppage time, when Barcelona finally scored their third.
The Querent and the Quesited
Although I am not a sports fan myself, I greatly enjoy examining geomantic and horary charts for different kinds of sporting contests. These questions allow us to test not only the final result, but also the general character of the contest—the initiative of each side, their style of play, the strength of their resistance, and the manner in which victory is achieved.
The rules of judgment bind the assignment of the houses to the querent. If a person genuinely supports one of the clubs, then both the querent and his team are assigned to the first house and the figure occupying it. The opposing team is assigned to the seventh house as the open opponent.
If the querent supports neither side and asks merely out of curiosity, there is no firm basis for deciding which team belongs to the first house and which belongs to the seventh. The assignment becomes arbitrary, and prediction begins to turn into guesswork. For that reason, I do not normally accept such questions.
In this case, the querent was a Barcelona supporter. Barcelona therefore receives the first house and its figure, Fortuna Minor. The same figure is repeated in the sixth house.
Alavés receives Tristitia in the seventh house. Tristitia is repeated in the following eighth house, forming a perfect company with itself. Alavés is therefore represented by a doubled Tristitia.
Victory is traditionally assigned to the tenth house, where we find Puella.
Analysis
Barcelona
Barcelona is represented by Fortuna Minor—the Lesser Fortune, corresponding to the hidden A Sun in the fixed sign of e Leo.
Fortuna Minor is not an unfortunate figure. It can bring success, brilliance, visibility, favorable circumstances, and victory. However, its solar power is hidden, veiled, or mediated by the outward movement of events. Its fortune often enters the situation from outside rather than arising from an unshakable inner center.
Fortuna Major represents firm, stable, and lasting strength—the inward power to prevail and securely maintain one’s position. Fortuna Minor represents a more limited and changeable form of success: a temporary advantage, a favorable turn of circumstances, or a window of opportunity that must be used while it remains open.
Barcelona could therefore win, but their advantage was unlikely to remain completely secure throughout the match. Their success would depend on recognizing and using the opportunities created by the changing flow of play.
The actual game reflected this nature of Fortuna Minor remarkably well. Barcelona conceded almost immediately, but Lamine Yamal equalized in the eighth minute. Dani Olmo put the home side ahead in the 26th minute and scored again in the third minute of stoppage time after combining with Yamal.
Barcelona’s victory was built from opportunities that appeared at decisive moments. They recovered quickly, gained the lead, and held it, but the narrow 2–1 advantage remained vulnerable until the final minutes. Only in stoppage time did they seize one last opening and make the result secure.
Barcelona’s Significator in the Sixth House
The repetition of Fortuna Minor in the sixth house shows the first-house significator advancing onto the opponent’s side. In the context of a soccer match, this indicates that Barcelona would spend a substantial amount of time in the opposing half and force Alavés to defend.
This was borne out by the game. Barcelona held 69% of the possession and took 18 shots to Alavés’s nine. Their territorial control was particularly clear in the second half, when they repeatedly kept the visitors near their own penalty area and created several chances to score a third goal.
At the same time, Fortuna Minor did not promise completely stable control. The early goal conceded by Barcelona, their vulnerability to quick attacks, and the long period during which the score remained 2–1 all show an advantage that had to be actively maintained.
Reception with the Figure of Victory
Combining Barcelona’s significator with the figure of victory gives:
- Fortuna Minor + Puella = Caput Draconis
Caput Draconis is a good figure signifying entry, beginning, acquisition, and coming into possession. In this case, it signifies the acquisition of victory.
This is especially striking because Barcelona conceded first. They were not preserving an advantage they already possessed—they had to acquire it during the match. They equalized, took the lead, and then retained possession of that lead until the end.
Barcelona’s Perfections with the Tenth House
A collection and translation of light occurs between Barcelona’s significator and the figure of victory, producing a major perfection.
Puella from the tenth house is repeated in the fourth. Beside it, in the third house, stands the mediating figure Populus. Populus is then repeated in the twelfth house, where it stands beside Fortuna Minor in the first. Populus therefore gathers the light of Puella and transfers it to Fortuna Minor, connecting Barcelona with victory and bringing the event to completion.
Three technical aspects also appear between Fortuna Minor and Puella: a T sextile, a U square, and a V trine. These should not be treated as three separate events. They are different stages of one dynamic interaction between the significators.
The exact aspect is the one formed when Fortuna Minor itself moves, since Fortuna Minor represents the team moving across the field. By passing into the sixth house, it forms an exact V trine with Puella in the tenth house.
The remaining aspects describe background influence:
- Fortuna Minor in the sixth house and Puella in the fourth form a T sextile;
- Fortuna Minor in the first house and Puella in the fourth form a U square.
Barcelona therefore has a favorable reception through Caput Draconis, a major perfection through the collection and translation of light, and a minor perfection through the exact V trine.
Alavés
Alavés is represented by a doubled Tristitia—a figure of L Saturn in the fixed sign of k Aquarius.
Its only passage is from the seventh house into the neighboring eighth house. This indicates that the team would largely preserve its position and base its play on a defensive structure.
The doubled Tristitia creates the image of a heavy, fixed, and difficult-to-move wall. L Saturn is traditionally the most distant, slow-moving, and heavy of the planets. When stationary, it is extremely difficult to dislodge.
The doubled Tristitia may therefore be compared to a stationary L Saturn—something firmly entrenched and highly resistant to displacement. Alavés would seek to close down space, preserve their formation, and force Barcelona to expend considerable effort breaking through them.
This was clearly reflected in the match. After Barcelona went ahead, Alavés maintained the one-goal margin almost until the end. Their defensive resistance was not finally broken until stoppage time.
Tristitia did not, however, signify complete passivity. From their stable defensive foundation, Alavés periodically launched quick, vertical attacks.
They scored from the first corner of the match. With the score at 1–1, Jonny had a close-range chance to put them ahead again, but Joan García made a crucial save. Shortly before halftime, Lucas Boyé sent another dangerous attempt just wide. Late in the game, Alavés again pressed forward and created a serious chance to equalize.
Their eight offsides also show that they were not merely standing motionless in front of their own goal. They repeatedly tried to run beyond Barcelona’s high defensive line.
The doubled Tristitia therefore described not a lifeless, purely defensive side, but a strong positional foundation from which Alavés launched occasional yet dangerous attacks.
Reception with the Figure of Victory
Combining the significator of Alavés with the figure of victory gives:
- Tristitia + Puella = Amissio
Amissio literally signifies loss, deprivation, and defeat.
This reception described the match almost literally. Alavés gained the lead in the opening minute but could not keep it. Their initial 0–1 advantage became 1–1, then 2–1, and finally 3–1.
What the team acquired at the beginning was subsequently lost.
Alavés’s Perfections with the Tenth House
There are no major perfections between Tristitia and the figure of victory. When Tristitia passes into the eighth house, it forms an exact T sextile with Puella in the tenth.
The other two technical aspects describe background influence:
- Tristitia in the seventh house and Puella in the fourth form a U square;
- Tristitia in the eighth house and Puella in the fourth form a V trine.
The exact T sextile signifies the concrete event connecting Alavés with the tenth house—the team scores one goal. This occurred in the opening minute, when Alavés took the lead from a corner.
A T sextile is also intrinsically weaker than a V trine, which is the exact aspect connecting Barcelona’s significator with victory. In addition, Alavés has no major perfection, while its reception with Puella produces Amissio—the figure of loss and defeat.
Alavés therefore receives its perfection and does indeed score, but the stronger aspect and the favorable reception belong to Barcelona.
The Direct Encounter Between Barcelona and Alavés
Combining the significators of the two teams gives:
- Fortuna Minor + Tristitia = Puer
Puer is the figure of F Mars, war, heat, direct confrontation, and physical tension.
The teams are also represented by opposing planetary principles. Fortuna Minor is associated with the A Sun in e Leo, while Tristitia is associated with L Saturn in k Aquarius. e Leo and k Aquarius stand opposite one another in the zodiac. e Leo is the place of L Saturn’s exile, while k Aquarius is the place of the A Sun’s exile.
The chart therefore shows a clash between two fundamentally opposed styles of play.
Barcelona, represented by the solar Fortuna Minor, would seek to move forward, occupy space, impose their will, and exploit openings.
Alavés, represented by the Saturnian Tristitia, would seek to restrict space, preserve their position, slow their opponent down, and respond with sudden vertical attacks.
The match unfolded as a contest between precisely these two principles. After Alavés scored early, Barcelona immediately moved forward. At 1–1, the visitors nearly regained the lead, but Joan García denied Jonny. Only moments later, Olmo scored at the other end. Within a very short period, the match shifted from a possible 1–2 to an actual 2–1.
Puer also appeared in the physical character of the contest. The teams committed 27 fouls between them and received five yellow cards.
Here Puer does not necessarily indicate extreme violence or brutality. It describes constant tension, direct confrontation, physical pressure, and the refusal of either side to yield easily.
The Manner of Victory
The figure of victory— Puella—also describes the manner in which victory was achieved.
Puella is associated with C Venus and signifies beauty, elegance, grace, harmony, and artistry. Barcelona did not win through a crude physical assault. Their goals came through fluid combinations, subtle movement, and skillful finishing.
The first goal followed a graceful move down the left before the ball reached Yamal in front of goal. The second came from Raphinha’s carefully placed pass to Olmo. The third was the result of an elegant counterattack completed through the understanding between Yamal and Olmo.
Puer therefore describes the nature of the struggle between the teams, while Puella describes the form in which victory was achieved.
The confrontation was Martial—sharp, tense, and combative.
The victory was Venusian—beautiful, graceful, elegant, and artfully constructed.
Judgment
The comparison of the significators produces a clear result.
For Barcelona:
- Fortuna Minor + Puella = Caput Draconis
Barcelona also receives a major perfection through the collection and translation of light and a minor perfection through the exact V trine.
For Alavés:
- Tristitia + Puella = Amissio
Alavés receives only a minor perfection through the exact T sextile, which is weaker than Barcelona’s V trine.
Barcelona should therefore win.
Alavés could offer serious resistance, gain an early advantage, and produce a concrete result of its own. However, the team could not ultimately possess the victory.
My final judgment was as follows:
Barcelona will win. They will move forward more often, occupy the opponent’s territory, and create opportunities through active play. Alavés will largely establish themselves in defense and offer heavy resistance, while occasionally answering with dangerous attacks. The match will be tense, but victory will ultimately belong to Barcelona.
Outcome
Barcelona won the match 3–1.
Alavés opened the scoring in the first minute through Pablo Ibáñez. Lamine Yamal equalized in the eighth minute, and Dani Olmo put Barcelona ahead in the 26th. The score remained 2–1 until the third minute of stoppage time, when Olmo scored his second goal and established the final result.
The chart therefore correctly showed the winner, Barcelona’s territorial advantage, the stable defensive foundation of Alavés, the visitors’ dangerous attacking breaks, the strong resistance of the losing side, the tense nature of the contest, the graceful and combination-based manner of Barcelona’s victory, and Alavés’s loss of their initial advantage.
After the final score became known, another remarkable correspondence emerged from the exact aspects formed by the moving significators.
Barcelona’s Score
Fortuna Minor passes into the sixth house and forms an exact V trine with Puella in the tenth.
Three houses lie between the sixth and the tenth:
- the seventh house;
- the eighth house;
- the ninth house.
Barcelona’s exact perfection therefore produces the number three.
Alavés’s Score
Tristitia passes into the eighth house and forms an exact T sextile with Puella in the tenth.
One house lies between the eighth and the tenth:
- the ninth house.
Alavés’s exact perfection therefore produces the number one.
The result is:
- Barcelona—3;
- Alavés—1.
This does not mean that every V trine in a sports chart must indicate three goals, or that every T sextile must indicate one. The numbers are not derived from the names of the aspects themselves, but from the number of intervening houses between each team’s moving significator and the figure of victory.
It should also be stated clearly that the exact score was not announced before the match. This part of the interpretation was recognized only after the result was known and should not be presented as a prediction made in advance.
Nevertheless, the numbers arise from the same exact perfections that were already used to compare the two teams. They may therefore be regarded as a secondary confirmation—a numerical signature of the final result.
Lesson
This chart is a striking example of how precisely geomancy can describe a sporting contest.
Cases like this reveal the true beauty of geomancy. The art can show not only what will happen, but also how the event will unfold.
